Aluminum shims
, also known as wedges, are used as hand tools. The shim has a tapered shape with a pointed tip of approximately 0.5 millimeters, requiring little insertion space. The shim spreads objects and creates an initial opening where other lifting devices cannot be used. A shim can be used for various applications, namely:

• Splitting materials
• Adjusting machines or structures
• Spreading pipe flanges
• Disassembly and assembly work
• Adjustment and alignment work prior to welding

Furthermore, the wedges are:

• Weldable
