Steel shims
Steel shims, also known as wedges or keys, serve as striking tools. Their tapered shape with a pointed tip of approximately 0.5 millimeters requires little space to insert. This allows them to spread objects and create an initial opening where other lifting devices cannot be used. Steel shims/wedges/keys have various applications, such as:
- Splitting materials
- Adjusting machines or structures
- Spreading flanges
- Disassembly and assembly work
- Preparatory adjustment and alignment work for welding

What are steel shims?
Shims are useful tools that can be used in various sectors. For example, they are used for spreading, aligning, assembling, leveling and disassembling parts. Euronique shims are available in various material types such as: steel, bronze and aluminum. In addition, they are available in various sizes. Steel shims and safety
When you place or insert a steel shim somewhere, it is put under pressure. If the angle at which the shim is placed is too sharp, the shim may shoot away under pressure. At Euronique, our shims are always made at a safe angle to ensure safety. In addition, it is essential to always wear protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves. Our sawn shims are carefully deburred, removing any splinters or burrs.
How does a steel shim work?
A shim works on the basis of the law of the inclined plane. The sharper the shim, the greater the splitting force that can be exerted with it. If a shim is hammered between two objects, the wedge-shaped shim creates leverage between the objects to be spread. This makes it easy to split materials or push them into place.

Small orders (up to 23 kg) are sent via PostNL and, if you place an order via the webshop, you will receive a track and trace code to track your order. The shims are delivered from stock, so the average delivery time is 2 to 3 working days.

Steel shims
Steel shims, also known as wedges or keys, serve as striking tools. Their tapered shape with a pointed tip of approximately 0.5 millimeters requires little space to insert. This allows them to spread objects and create an initial opening where other lifting devices cannot be used. Steel shims/wedges/keys have various applications, such as:

What are steel shims?

Steel shims and safety
When you place or insert a steel shim somewhere, it is put under pressure. If the angle at which the shim is placed is too sharp, the shim may shoot away under pressure. Our sawn shims are carefully deburred, removing any splinters or burrs.
How does a steel shim work?
A shim works on the basis of the law of the inclined plane. The sharper the shim, the greater the splitting force that can be exerted with it. If a shim is hammered between two objects, the wedge-shaped shim creates leverage between the objects to be spread. This makes it easy to split materials or push them into place.
